In fact, the United States is currently the fifth largest Spanish-speaking nation in the world.There’s little doubt that a degree in Spanish and Literatures at St. Thomas Aquinas College will leave you well equipped for today’s global economy. Multinational corporations and small businesses alike increasingly need employees with knowledge of foreign languages and cultures to market products to customers and work effectively with employees around the globe.Careers For Spanish Language MajorsHigh school Spanish language programs are facing a serious teacher shortage in the NY Metro area. Over the past five years, 100% of STAC’s Spanish/secondary education majors landed teaching jobs within months of graduation. (There are also grants and loan-forgiveness programs for students who major in Spanish.) But Spanish majors have a host of other career possibilities, including those in law enforcement, health services, immigration and naturalization, tourism, journalism, and the armed forces, to name just a few.More and more businesses work closely with companies in other countries. Corporations need workers who can communicate in different languages and understand other cultures. No matter what career you choose, if you've learned a second language, you'll have a real advantage.
