    About Accounting (Certificate NDP)

    The Graduate Accounting Certificate allows students to select 9 to 18 units of graduate level accounting coursework tailored to their education needs.  Students can obtain additional coursework necessary for becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).  The certificate program is also available to students interested in entering the field of accounting with limited previous accounting education.  Certain prerequisite courses are available during the summer for these students.

    • 4 year bachelor's degree
    • A minimum 2.75 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
    • Proof of English Proficiency for some international candidates. TOEFL score of 85 internet based, 563 paper based taken before 2017, or IELTS composite score of 7 (with no subject area below a 6.5)
    • 1 letter of recommendation
    • Resume

    Prerequisites

    The following are prerequisite courses for the Certificate program.  Prerequisites must be taken at an institution that teaches United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and U.S. taxation.  All of the prerequisites except for Introduction to Financial Accounting can be completed during your program.

    • Principles of Federal Taxation

    Funding Opportunities

    Funding opportunities are limited for graduate certificate students.  Since a certificate is a non-degree seeking program, students do not qualify for financial aid (i.e. student loans).  Students typically self-fund program costs, but can look into third party scholarship opportunities.

    • International applicants to the Main campus must currently hold a US visa that permits incidental study.
