About Master of Public Health (MPH) - Industrial Hygiene

The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree is designed to be an interdisciplinary, professional degree in public health. The MPH Program provides opportunities for students to obtain broad knowledge and basic skills in the core areas of public health. Students are able to acquire proficiency in one or more specialized areas through advanced coursework, and gain experience in applying advanced knowledge to the solution of actual health problems in community settings during internship training.

The program is designed to be a two year program for full-time students. Part-time students can take up to 6 years to complete the program.

MPH Environmental & Occupational Health - Industrial Hygiene

The industrial hygiene track focuses on worker protection. The Master of Public Health - Industrial Hygiene (IH) track is ABET accredited and requires 45 credit hours to complete. Students interested in admission are required to have completed at least one semester of organic chemistry and physics, in addition to the MPH biology requirement. Environmental and Occupational Health

The EOH concentration has two tracks: EOH and Industrial Hygiene (IH). The EOH track has the same requirements as the MPH program and further requires at least one year of general or inorganic chemistry and strongly recommends one year of calculus, and a semester each of organic chemistry and physics.

International applicants are required by the UA Graduate College to submit a TOEFL score of 90 on the iBT (web-based) test. For students who take the IELTS examination, an overall score of 7 is required, with a score of no less than 6 on any individual band or module. TOEFL and IELTS test scores must be dated within two years of the year of enrollment. Students may be requested to enter the Center for English as a Second Language to improve their verbal skills.
