About PhD in Nursing (DNP) - Family Nurse Practitioner

The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) DNP specialty prepares nurses to provide healthcare to individuals and the family. Students will be prepared to manage a variety of conditions from episodic conditions (coughs, earaches, fevers, etc.) to chronic conditions (diabetes, hypertension, asthma, etc.) utilizing a holistic approach that evaluates all the current conditions for the patient to formulate a treatment plan. Applicants may enter the program as a post-BSN student or a post-master's (in nursing) student. Graduates of the FNP specialty are prepared as advanced practice nurses and are eligible for Nurse Practitioner certification.

Degree awarded from a regionally accredited institution

RN Licensure

Enrollment in the DNP program requires registered nurse licensure. Admission is conditional upon the individual obtaining and maintaining the license in active and good standing.

Standardized Tests

We do not require any standardized tests for admission to the DNP Program.

Funding Opportunities

Students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program are eligible for university and college funding. All students are encouraged to file an updated FAFSA form each year. The College of Nursing awards internal scholarships on a rolling basis each spring to currently admitted students.

Admissions Deadlines

Applications for the Family Nurse Practitioner specialty must be submitted by October 31st 2021 to be considered for the first admission cycle for Fall 2022 cohort.
