About PhD in Nursing (DNP) - Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Primary Care (PNP-PC) role is to provide care to children from birth through young adult with an in-depth knowledge and experience in pediatric primary health care including well child care and prevention/management of common pediatric acute illnesses and chronic conditions. PNP-PCs meet the specialized physiologic and psychological needs of children in the areas of health maintenance and promotion, and assessment and management of disease processes. Applicants may enter the program as a post-BSN student or a post-master's (in nursing) student. Graduates of the PNP specialty are prepared as advanced practice nurses and are eligible for Nurse Practitioner certification.

RN Licensure

Enrollment in the DNP program requires registered nurse licensure. Admission is conditional upon the individual obtaining and maintaining the license in active and good standing.

Funding Opportunities

Students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program are eligible for university and college funding. All students are encouraged to file an updated FAFSA form each year. The College of Nursing awards internal scholarships on a rolling basis each spring to currently admitted students.

Admissions Deadlines

Applications for the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specialty must be submitted by October 31st 2021 to be considered for the first admission cycle for Fall 2022 cohort.
