Students in the Linguistics minor will gain insight into one of the most fundamental aspects of being human – the ability to communicate through language. Through an interdisciplinary approach, students will examine sounds, word and sentence formation, and meaning; they will receive training on language variation, language acquisition, and language processing; they will reflect on the origins and the evolution of language. Students are required to complete 21 units for the minor - 6 units of required courses; 6 units in two language families; and 9 elective units from three disciplines.

All courses that count toward the minor must be completed with a grade equivalent of 2.00 or higher.
