Consult with Fortune 500 companies or federal government/law enforcement agencies on forensic technology, cyber risk, regulatory/compliance, and criminal investigations as well as perform cyber intelligence and systems defense related to cyber attacks.

With this degree, you'll be equipped to spot security breaches, gather electronic evidence (eDiscovery), manage risk and incident response planning and policy, and investigate regulatory compliance issues, criminal activity, and financial fraud.

Special Program Designation

The bachelor's in digital forensics is a designated Center of Academic Excellence – Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE) institution through the National Information Assurance Education Training Program (NIETP). Sponsored by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), NIETP operates under national authority as the manager for cyber defense education and training relating to national security systems.

Students will be able to identify and define computer forensics analysis concepts, tools, and technologies.
Students will be able to utilize appropriate methods collecting and preserving digital evidence at cybercrime scenes.
The student will be able to identify federal and state legal statutes, case law and government regulations relevant to network data preservation and incident forensic response.
Students will be able to prepare a comprehensive written report and present forensic findings to a panel of subject matter experts.
The student should be able to effectively provide testimony during direct and cross-examination.

Transfer applicants: You must submit official transcripts of all college and/or university work, even if you don't expect to receive transfer credit. If you've completed fewer than 24 transferable college credits, you'll also need to submit an official transcript from your secondary school for admissions purposes.

If you are admitted, you will also need to submit an official final transcript from your secondary school showing your date of graduation.

A transcript evaluation allows the review committee to correctly compare the quality of your school, coursework and grades with all other applicants.

Although not required, we accept SpanTran or WES evaluations sent from the organization directly to the University at Albany.
