The interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Management at UAlbany will give you a broad understanding of the relationships between government legislation, public policy, economics, politics, civil rights, regulation and finance, and city, state, federal, and global affairs.

The program includes foundational coursework and electives in management and politics, and quantitative methods and policy. Then you get to earn a concentration in the area of study that best matches your personal interests and career goals.

Bachelor of Arts

The student will be familiar with the mechanisms operating in the major political institutions and agencies for the creation and implementation of public policies.
The student will be familiar with the social forces that affect the creation of public policies.
The student will be familiar with the predominant political, economic, and social actors that actively engage in the policymaking process, including expert communities, interest groups, the media, agency bureaucrats, and elected officials.
The student will be familiar with the dominant ideas presently used in the social sciences for understanding the impetus for the creation of public policy and the means for its successful implementation.
The student will be able to apply this understanding of the various components of social policy making to effectively introduce new aspects to the existing consideration of a specific area of recent public policy interest.

Entry Requirements

All applicants must arrange for their official school and/or college transcripts to be sent to us.

First-year (freshmen) applicants: You must submit an official transcript from your secondary school for admissions purposes.
Transfer applicants: You must submit official transcripts of all college and/or university work, even if you don't expect to receive transfer credit. If you've completed fewer than 24 transferable college credits, you'll also need to submit an official transcript from your secondary school for admissions purposes.

If you are admitted, you will also need to submit an official final transcript from your secondary school showing your date of graduation.

Academic transcripts in languages other than English must be accompanied by an official, certified English translation.

Transcript Evaluation

A transcript evaluation allows the review committee to correctly compare the quality of your school, coursework and grades with all other applicants.

Although not required, we accept SpanTran or WES evaluations sent from the organization directly to the University at Albany.

Other evaluation services can only be used if they require official documents directly from the institution of higher education, not the student, to evaluate coursework. The organization must also be accredited by NACES.
