The University of Cincinnati (UC) Undergraduate Certificate in Developmental Disabilities is designed to provide students from social work, allied health, nursing, medicine, political science, psychology, sociology, counseling, criminal justice, and other disciplines with the knowledge and skills to work with persons with developmental disabilities in a variety of social, healthcare, and educational settings. Students will explore and understand theories, programs, policies, interventions, and services related to this population.
The Certificate in Developmental Disabilities is a collaboration between the UC School of Social Work and the UC Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCCEDD). The UCCEDD is a partnership program between the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). The certificate is in response to the rapidly growing disability field in Ohio and the U.S. which has led to high employer demand. It can be combined with other UC undergraduate degrees.
