About Certificate in European Studies

European studies is a faculty-driven initiative of UC's College of Arts and Sciences (A&S) that provides opportunities for studying the multifaceted nature of a changing Europe - its history; its languages; its cultural, political, economic, and social fabric; and its borders. European studies not only offers courses at the graduate level but also as an undergraduate certificate.

European studies (EUST) was created in 2000 with the generous grant of $150,000 from the Charles Phelps Taft Memorial Fund as well as the support of the provost and the dean of Arts and Sciences. Since then, a collective of interested faculty from Asian, East European and German Studies (AEEG), Romance and Arabic Languages and Literatures (RALL), History, Geography, Political Science, English, Classics, Sociology, and other fields related to the study of Europe has developed a dynamic and growing program that has garnered highly competitive national and regional funding, including grants from the Ohio Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

We offer courses and certificates at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our courses and other events are open to all who are interested in European studies.

Requirements and Admission Criteria for Certificate in European Studies at University of Cincinnati

Entry Requirements

Students enrolled in Jordanian national curriculum are asked to report their current subjects on the “Current or Most Recent Year Courses” section of the Common App. Advise your school counselor, headmaster, director, etc. to upload the following documents to the Common App:

Transcripts with final Preparatory school results for year 10, coursework and scores for year 11, and as much as is available for year 12 by the application deadline
If you have completed secondary school, official copy of the General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi), accompanied by a certified word-for-word English translation

If the transcript is issued in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by an English translation.
