Engineering is the design, construction and operation of structures, machines and systems using established scientific principles. Engineers put scientific knowledge to practical use, serving a critical role in today's increasingly complex world.
The Pre-Engineering program provides the appropriately prepared student with the first year toward completion of a bachelor's degree in engineering.* Students transitioning to the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati will have four to five more years of study. Engineering programs in CEAS require five years of study; it may take longer depending on your pathway and preparation.
Please note students may need to take additional courses depending on their Math and English placement test score which may require completion of the required Pre-Engineering curriculum to extend beyond two semesters. Students working to meet the required math level for this advising track should enroll at UC Blue Ash College in the Exploratory Studies program.
*The student will need to meet regularly with an advisor to ensure the General Education requirements align with the chosen engineering discipline. Additional courses may include ENED1020, ENED1090, ENED1091, PD1011 and Intro to Discipline course (major specific) at UC's College of Engineering and Applied Science.
