    About

The top-ranked University of Cincinnati Doctor of Audiology graduate program will prepare you for an exciting career as an audiologist. The program involves in-depth study of the disorders of hearing and balance, coupled with practicum experiences in the areas of study. In order to provide the doctoral-level student with adequate advanced didactic and practicum experience with persons manifesting hearing and balance disorders including a capstone project, nine consecutive semesters of study are necessary, which includes summer terms and a one-year full-time final year clinical externship.

Audiology students complete course work across the professional scope of practice including anatomy and physiology, hearing and balance assessment, hearing aids, implantable hearing devices, and habilitative audiology in order to prepare them to evaluate patients of all ages and provide appropriate management.

Doctor of Audiology students are eligible for certification from the American Board of Audiology and state licensing in audiology. They also can meet eligibility for the ASHA certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology, state certification as an educational audiologist and certification in animal audiology upon completion of the program.

Our on-site Speech & Hearing clinic and international service opportunities provide students with invaluable experiences while at UC.  Additionally, students with an interest can pursue the animal audiology certificate with the FETCHLAB, the only site in the world to provide hearing aids to animals.
