PhD in Psychology at University of Cincinnati

The University of Cincinnati Department of Psychology offers the PhD in Psychology. The department trains doctoral-level researchers, primarily in the areas of health psychology, experimental and human factors, and neuropsychology. Students with interests outside these areas may apply for admission if their interests correspond closely to those of at least one faculty member.

The doctoral program is limited to full-time students who show outstanding promise, as demonstrated by undergraduate achievement, Graduate Record Exam scores, and recommendation letters. The program is also open to students who have earned a master's degree from another institution.

Students are admitted to the program to work with a specific faculty mentor. Mentors are responsible for ensuring students are actively engaged in research from the beginning of graduate school and that this work leads successfully to a master's thesis and a dissertation. Our goal is to train students to compete effectively for positions in a broad variety of settings. We provide extensive professional development opportunities during doctoral training.
