The Risk Management and Insurance program at the University of Georgia is one of the finest in the nation, having risen to the top spot in 2014 rankings from the U.S. News & World Report.
The major offers a unique program of study designed to give students a broad understanding of the roles and functions of risk-bearing institutions including commercial property and liability insurance, employee benefits, insurer operations and policy, corporate risk management, life insurance, and economic risk management. (Refer to the Pre-Business major for information on applying.) Internships are encouraged to gain additional practical experience.
Potential career positions include risk analysts and managers, underwriters, employee benefits analysts, insurance brokers or agents, claims adjusters, loss control specialists, and others.
