About Bachelor of Natural Resource Conservation

Are you interested in understanding and influencing how people affect and interact with the environment and our natural resources?

In this program, you will explore the human dimensions of natural resource management and conservation, and address the question of how human communities and institutions manage their relationship with ecological resources. You will learn to apply this knowledge to protect and maintain earth's wild places, manage natural resources, and improve the human experience with the natural environment.

Students in this nationally recognized program can choose from two options:

Conservation Planning and Management: This option focuses on the theory, processes, and techniques for the management and planning of conservation systems.
Conservation Science: This is a general program that focuses on the basic principles of the natural environment and its conservation, use and improvement.

Practical experience is vital to enhancing your education and preparing you for your professional career. You'll participate in field courses that include traveling in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, and a backpacking trip in the backcountry of Yellowstone National Park.

Requirements and Admission Criteria for Bachelor of Natural Resource Conservation at University of Idaho

Entry Requirements

If you are a freshman or first-year student:

Undergraduate applicants who have no previous work at the post-secondary level must have at least a 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) from a secondary school. Students must also meet the criteria for admission to university-level study in their home country.

If you are a transfer student:

Undergraduate applicants who have attended a post-secondary institution and have completed at least 14 transferable semester credits at an accredited institution must present a minimum grade point average of 2.0 for all post-secondary work. For admission into the College of Engineering, transfer students must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.8. Other departments may have additional requirements. Students who have completed fewer than 14 transferable semester credits (post-secondary) must meet the freshman or first-year student requirements in addition to the transfer student requirements.
