1. Intermediate language proficiency, beyond prerequisites ITAL 101 and 102:
- ITAL 201 (Intermediate Italian I)
- ITAL 202 (Intermediate Italian II)
Proficiency can be gained by either completing ITAL 201/202 at UMB, or their equivalents, or by taking a language placement test. Students testing out of this requirement must substitute these two courses with two electives. These electives may be taken outside the department.
2. One required 300-level course, taught in Italian:
- ITAL 301 (Advanced Composition and Conversation)
OR
- ITAL 311 (Introduction to Italian Literature)
3. Three additional courses
- Up to one course on Italian topics from other departments (see appendix).
- No more than 1 course can be at the 100 level
- A minimum of 2 courses need to be at or above the 300 level.
4. Additional Information
- Pass/Fail: no courses can be taken as pass/fail
- Transfer: maximum of three courses can be transferred (no restrictions)
- Effective date of change: Spring 2019
