    The Business Foundations Certificate is a fully online program that focuses on core business skills and knowledge necessary to understand the structure and operations of contemporary organizations.

    The goal of this program is to provide students with the fundamental business skills and knowledge required to successfully enter and participate in today's business enterprises (either for-profit or non-profit organizations).

    Certificate Requirements

    The program requires 12 credit hours. Students seeking to earn the Business Foundations certificate must complete courses in at least four of the following six graduate business areas:

    • MBA 508 Accounting (3)
    • MBA 514 Information Analysis & Management (3)
    • MBA 530 Economics (3)
    • MBA 532 Corporate Finance (3)
    • MBA 542 Marketing (3)
    • MBA 562 Management (3)

    Students requiring graduate business coursework to meet the pre-requisite requirements of programs such as UNCW's International MBA program

    Graduate students in certain programs, such as the UNCW Master of Science in Chemistry, that need graduate business coursework to fulfill a business option requirement

    Adult learners who want to acquire essential business knowledge and skills without undertaking a full Master of Business Administration degree

    Entry Requirements

    • Completed online application.
      • Fall Deadline: April 1
      • Spring Deadline: October 15
    • Non-refundable $80 application fee (check or money order in U.S. dollars and drawn on a U.S. bank, payable to UNCW).
    • Official high school (secondary school) transcript, translated into English (translation must be certified).
    • Translated transcripts from institutions attended beyond secondary school.
      • If the applicant wishes to receive academic credit, these transcripts (unless from a U.S. institution) must be evaluated by an accredited credential evaluation service. The applicant must choose a company that belongs to the National Association of Credential Evaluators (NACES).
    • TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test, or Pearson Test of English score unless:
      • English is applicant's native language.
      • Applicant has completed 2 college-level courses in English composition at a U.S. college or university with a grade of B or higher.
      • A student successfully completes Level 4 in UNCW's ESL program.
