Overview OverviewThe master in Reading Education program offered at the University of Oklahoma also welcomes inservice and preservice teachers who want to remain in the classroom but who wish to gain greater knowledge and understanding in developing engaged, strategic readers and writers. Program candidates receive extensive instruction in theory of literacy as well as cutting-edged, research-based best practices for literacy instruction, coaching, and reading program management and supervision. The candidates also participate in both structured and unstructured practicum experiences in literacy assessment and intervention. Those who seek to be certified as reading specialists are required to develop and successfully defend a portfolio at the completion of the program in addition to passing the Oklahoma Subject Area Test for Reading Specialists (OSAT). I want to find another Master Course Non-certification candidates can choose other options (e.g., master’s thesis or project) to fulfill their graduation requirements. The doctoral program involves both coursework and a dissertation. Graduates from our doctoral program usually find employment in higher education institutions across the nation.
