Our Program

Our Health Leadership Master's program prepares professional nurses for leadership roles in areas such as project management, healthcare consulting, nursing education, public health, health policy, and healthcare quality improvement and safety.

In collaboration with you, program faculty design a course of study aimed at preparing you for a healthcare leadership role of your choosing. In addition to various electives, we emphasize leadership development, systems thinking, health policy, research, patient safety and quality improvement coupled with a course in which you have access to a variety of nursing leaders.

Coursework

You will complete nine courses in the School of Nursing (three of which are Leadership electives) and three courses in any School within the University to enrich the interdisciplinary nature of your studies.

As a complement to this program, our students often pursue minors in Global Health, Nursing and Health Care Administration, Nursing Education, Organizational Dynamics in Healthcare, and Quality Improvement and Safety Processes In Healthcare or a certificate in Health Care Innovation.

We also offer a number of dual-degree programs with other renowned Penn Schools where you can combine an MSN with a Master's in Healthcare Quality & Safety, Master's in Public Health, Master's in Bioethics, or a Master's in Law.

Study Options

Our curriculum may be completed on either a full- or part-time basis. You can complete the program full-time in 12-15 months and part-time in approximately two years.

Entry Requirements

Our admission decisions are made prior to the announcement of results for many national examinations (such as the A Levels or French Baccalaureate), but applicants are expected to be enrolled in programs that prepare them for these examinations. If you are enrolled in a program that will not release external examination results prior to our application deadlines, you must request that your school send us predictions of external examination results along with your grades.

Where national examinations are required for admission to a pre-university program (such as the IGCSE or the SPM), you should have received high marks on these examinations and should present certified copies of the results with your Penn application.
