    Earn Your Degree in Marketing

Marketing occurs every time a company communicates with a customer/potential customer. It is vital for every successful business, which is why it is one of the most recruited degrees on campus. It covers a wide range of processes focused on creating exchange value for customers and society, including: brand management, retailing, marketing research, sales, social media marketing, etc. Therefore, understanding consumers and managing these various types of communications is a primary focus of our program.

Students are encouraged to consider studying abroad! In fact, many business students are awarded study abroad scholarships to assist with the expense of attending study abroad programs. Southern Miss Business faculty lead three programs: British Studies, Asian Studies, and Italian Studies.

The College of Business and Economic Development is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Our expert faculty use their experience to help students develop the knowledge and problem-solving skills (creative and critical thinking, communication, and collaboration) to succeed in this dynamic workplace. Using new, diverse teaching methods, we challenge students to apply this knowledge and skills on client-based projects. This process allows our faculty to connect with and challenge students to build character and the marketing know-how necessary. We also provide our students with a variety of professionalism opportunities, such as student organizations, certificates, study-abroad, and advanced courses.

Our marketing degree provides our majors with a well-rounded view of the discipline. The creative marketing and marketing research courses are unique course requirements that teach students how to think both creatively and analytically about marketing phenomenon. Program electives are continuously modified and improved to provide the most relevant course experiences for students.

Students may engage in internships and study abroad programs to earn credit. Study abroad programs led by Southern Miss business faculty include the British Studies Program, Asian Studies, and Italian Studies. Faculty in the School of Marketing are involved in all three programs. Ask about scholarship opportunities for marketing majors to study abroad.
