About Bachelor of Sport Communication

The sport communication minor requires courses offered by the WVU College of Applied Human Sciences and the College of Media. This blended minor includes both on-campus and online courses, and summer coursework is typically required to complete it.

Students in colleges and units outside of the College of Media may earn a minor in sport communication by completing the following courses and meeting the requirements as stated below. The sport communication minor is not available to students in the College of Media unless they are pursuing the College's multidisciplinary studies major. The majority of courses for the sport communication minor are offered exclusively online and some may require summer enrollment. Note that additional online course fees apply.

To earn a minor in sport communication, a student must earn a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 in all courses required for the minor and have 9 distinct credit hours in the minor not shared with other degree requirements. However, College of Media MDS students must earn a C- in every course in the minor and all 15 credit hours must be distinct to the minor and not shared with other degree requirements.

Requirements and Admission Criteria for Bachelor of Sport Communication at West Virginia University

Entry Requirements

Must have at least a 2.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale for general admission.
Must meet English Proficiency or request conditional admission and admission to the Intensive English Program (IEP).
Please be advised that some Engineering majors may reach capacity and therefore will be restricted from entry.
For direct admission to some colleges and majors, SAT or ACT scores are required and must be sent to WVU directly from the respective testing services. Please review the program requirements. For all other majors, international students are encouraged but not required to submit SAT or ACT scores, if available. SAT/ACT scores are useful for determining scholarship eligibility.
WVU welcomes applications from students with IGCSE and O-Level Certificates from an approved UK exam board for admissions consideration. We require a minimum of five subject passes, of which two must be English and Mathematics. The average of the grades must be at least a 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale). A passing grade in the subject of English will be accepted as evidence of sufficient English ability.
