The BS in Psychological Science program at WPI offers a unique learning experience. You'll develop your social science studies while building a strong research portfolio and a valuable scientific skill set from your very first courses. At WPI, you won't just learn about why people behave the way they do. Our expert faculty members guide you on collaborative hands-on research projects in areas like social psychology, cognitive psychology, and learning sciences to dig into the science at the intersection of psychology and technology. With WPI's long-established scientific approach, psychology students explore many questions about human thought and behavior from how our social environments influence our health to how we can encourage environmental awareness and stability.

At WPI, your psychology courses will span many disciplines, including social sciences, psychological sciences, mathematics, and engineering. You'll apply what you've learned to modern challenges in policy, criminal justice, environmental issues, law, business, and education. Undergraduates routinely join faculty-led research in our state-of-the-art labs and present the findings at conferences. Your understanding of biology, behavior, ethics, and technology sets the foundation for a career in which critical thinking and having a broader view of complex psychological and technological issues is vital. Additionally, our research labs give students opportunities for hands-on research and a chance to act as both a participant and a researcher. Our labs include the Educational Psychology Lab, where students decipher data, and the Social Psychology Inquiry (SPI) lab, where a diverse student population participates in and leads experiments.

WPI undergraduate students are immersed in project work across all four years of study, in classes and laboratories as well as in off-campus communities. As a psychological science student, you'll investigate cognitive and social psychology topicsoften working collaboratively across departmentsin order to better understand how people think and behave in different situations.

WPI Undergraduate Admissions will also consider Initialview or Vericant interviews if submitted. These interviews are optional and serve as a supplement to one of the exams mentioned above, but alone they do not satisfy our English proficiency requirement.

Keep in mind that many high schools block external emails, so we recommend using your personal email address if you have one. This email will be the main method of contact that WPI uses to reach you throughout the application process.

Step #2: Request Required Materials

Request your required high school transcripts and letters of recommendation while completing your Common Application. WPI is a test-blind institution, meaning SAT and ACT scores are not part of the WPI application. We do require:

School counselor letter of recommendation
Teacher letter of recommendation
Early Decision applicants are required to submit the Early Decision Agreement
