Access Scholarship

At Cardiff Met we are committed to supporting talented athletes from a range of backgrounds and appreciate the challenges many athletes face in attempting to chase their sporting dreams. The Access Scholarship is designed to offer support to those talented athletes that come from an area that has low participation in Higher Education.

Eligibility criteria:

• Classed as a Home student for fee paying purposes
• Competing at a high level within your chosen sport.
• Your permanent address is in an area that has low participation rates in Higher Education. Check your postcode here.*
• Your household income must be less than £30,000: we will confirm this information with Student Finance. To allow us to verify your household income, you must be registered with Student Finance Wales or England as a 'Means-Tested' applicant and have a completed assessment with Student Finance by 31st August 2022. In addition, you and your sponsor(s) (e.g. your parent(s)) must give 'Consent to Share' household income/financial details as part of your Student Finance application. If the above criteria are not met, you will not be considered for the bursary.

Athletes should also meet one or more of the below criteria:

• International representative honors at age-group or senior level
• Part of the top tier of your NGBs performance pathway
• Significant experience at academy level of a professional sport
• Continued success at national age group or senior championships
