Students who are registered for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition at the University of Aberdeen are eligible to apply. Students must be researching issues directly affecting women's health. Preference will be given to projects supervised or co-supervised in the Aberdeen Centre for Women's Health Research. The scholarship is available to home or overseas students to assist with research project costs including research outputs (conference presentation, open access publication, etc). Fees for Master degree research projects supervised by ACWHR will also be considered.
Applicants must demonstrate strong academic potential.
Selection Process
The School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition are responsible for the short-listing of the candidates and will make the award.
The successful candidate will be required to write a short report on their studies, explaining how the scholarship has benefited them. This is to be submitted to the University of Aberdeen Development Trust who will forward it to the Trustees of the Scholarship. A successful applicant can only be awarded an ACWHR grant OR scholarship in any one academic year.
How to Apply
There is no set application form. Applications should include information about the course of study being undertaken, why financial support is needed, and what the scholarship funds will be used for.
The applications should be accompanied by: A copy of the applicant's curriculum vitae (max 2 page and can include link for google scholarly or PURE or similar for full list of publications), a max 500 word summary of the student's project in a scientific abstract format, a summary of how the funds will be used, and a letter of support from the student's supervisor.
