The University has 6 one-off scholarships, worth £10,000 each, to support widening participation students in the full-time study of the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. Applications for these bursaries are open to prospective new students who have applied to join the course and have paid their fee deposit. The scholarships are only available for women, black, disabled, or low-income background students, and are being funded by the Office for Students (OfS), Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the Office for Artificial Intelligence (OAI). A further round of scholarships will be launched for students joining the course in September 2023.
This award is only available to full-time students studying MSc Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
To be eligible for the bursaries, applicants must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:
(a) You are female.
(b) You are from one of the following ethnic groups: Black or Black British - African Black or Black British - Caribbean Other Black Background Mixed White and Black African Mixed White and Black Caribbean.
(c) You are registered disabled.
(d) You are from a low-income background, as evidenced by receipt of a maintenance grant and/or a higher rate of maintenance loan during undergraduate studies.
We will prioritise (a), (b), and (c), before considering (d) alone.
This is a competitive scholarship scheme, and eligibility for the scholarship does not guarantee an award. The Faculty of Science and Engineering will review all applications to generate a ranked list.
