To be eligible for this bursary, you must meet all the following criteria: You must be a Home student for fee paying purposes Be in the first year of your studies at Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2023 You must also meet the Carers Trust definition of a carer: Anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support. New students, who have declared their carer status at enrolment, will be contacted during the first term and invited to make an application for the bursary. If you have not declared your carer status at enrolment, but believe you may be eligible.
Students would be required to provide confirmation from a person, who is involved with the family on a professional basis (e.g. Social Worker, GP etc.) that they are a carer.
If funds are remaining by the end of Term 2, we will invite those who meet the below eligibility criteria and who are either not in their first year of their studies or were unsuccessful in gaining the award at the application stage to apply. However, if you have already received the bursary during the first year of your studies, you will be ineligible to apply.
A 'Carers Bursary' of up to £1,000 for full-time students and up to £500 for part-time students may be available during the first year of your course (which you would not have to pay back).
