Ten Scholarships are available in the School of Arts and Humanities. These scholarships are available across all academic disciplines within the School for research undertaken on either a full-time or part-time basis where there is sufficient supervisory capacity. Our Chancellor's Anniversary Scholarships are available for the standard registration period only for doctoral awards this will be either 3 years full-time or 6 years part-time. The scholarship will not apply to any research undertaken outside of this standard registration period, including any write up period. Our Chancellor's Anniversary Scholarships Scheme is a competitive application process open to home (UK-resident) candidates and to be eligible you must have achieved one of the following:
2:1 honours degree or above
Distinction at taught Master's
Master's by Research degree and have a letter of recommendation from your supervisor.
This scholarship applies to eligible research degrees (PhD, MA by Research, MSc by Research) for 2023/24 and is open to home candidates (UK only). We positively encourage applications from groups under-represented in postgraduate research, including (but not limited to) women, LGBTQ+ candidates, Global Majority / BAME candidates, candidates with disabilities, candidates with caring responsibilities, and care leavers. Candidates will normally be expected to live a commutable distance from campus and be on campus regularly in order to be an active member of the School's research community. Full-time students will need to dedicate 35 hours per week to the degree and must not also be working full time. If you study part time, you should expect to dedicate 17.5 hours per week to the degree. Scholarship recipients will be expected to contribute up 6 hours per week (unpaid) of activities to support areas such as teaching, research, public engagement or administration.
