The Athena scholarships are for female students who, due to their background would not be able to attend the course due to affordability. Awardees thus benefit from a life-changing opportunity to contribute to the challenges of the power and propulsion industry that brings great social and economic benefits to the world.

The scholarship covers the tuition fees for the MSc in Thermal Power only. Applicants must note that they will be responsible for their travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses.

The Scholarship is open to any female engineering student with an offer of admission for the MSc in Thermal Power and Propulsion. Applicants can be considered for either the October and March intakes. The Scholarship will be awarded to suitably qualified female students who, without financial support, would not be able to attend this postgraduate course. Applicants are required to undertake, in agreement with a Thermal Power and Propulsion MSc member of staff, a Thermal Power and Propulsion MSc project relating to environment friendly developments in Thermal Power, if successful in securing the Scholarship. The awardees will be selected on the basis of the quality of their supporting statement, CV (including qualifications and experience) and their disadvantaged background.

Applicants must have an offer of admission for the MSc in Thermal Power and Propulsion. Applications will close 4 months before the course start date.

Please include a one-page supporting statement:

a 500 word motivation statement
a 500 word explanation of economic need
student number and a copy of the offer letter
a reference letter explaining why your background is disadvantaged

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application 3 months before the course start date.
