Funds cannot be used for the payment of tuition fees.
The Discretionary Fund is available for students in financial hardship at the time of making application.
The fund makes awards in the form of a grant which does not need to be repaid.
Awards are intended to assist students with basic living expenses, study-related costs and travel to and from university.
To be eligible students must:
be from Scotland, England, Wales or Northern Ireland
be registered and attending an eligible course
have taken out their full entitlement to a student loan
have exhausted all other possible sources of funding available to them
be able to prove they are in financial difficulty

Closing date for applications for session 2022-23 is Wednesday 14 June 2023. Applications received after this date will not be considered. Applications can take up to 4-6 weeks to be considered.
