Additional Requirements
Applicants must not have been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute. Participation in STAR courses, community education courses offered by tertiary institutions, orientation, or general interest programmes run by tertiary institutions for secondary school students does not preclude application for the Nelson Science Scholarship.
Recipients must have been enrolled at Te Kura Tamat?ne o Whakat? Nelson College for not less than two years.
Recipients must be at least 16 years old on 1 March of the year of tenure.
Tenure: Up to four years
Number Available Annually: At least two
Selection Process
In making the recommendations, the selection committee gives equal consideration to: a. academic achievement, especially in any three of the subjects Chemistry, Physics, Calculus, Mathematics, and Statistics b. leadership potential and c. involvement in sport, cultural, and/or community activities.
If, in any year, there are fewer candidates of sufficient merit than there are scholarships available, fewer scholarships are offered.
