The University of Glasgow is offering up to 20 Sanctuary Scholarships for applicants to the University, who have been forced to travel to the UK for humanitarian reasons and are facing challenges in progressing onto Higher Education. The scholarship is open to prospective undergraduate and postgraduate taught students at the University of Glasgow applying for entry in September 2023/24. Please note that you must have applied to the University before submitting an application for this scholarship.

To be eligible applicants must:

Hold a firm conditional or unconditional offer for full time study at the University of Glasgow for 2023/24
Have submitted a claim for asylum in the UK OR are actively appealing a negative decision on claim for asylum in the UK OR have been granted Refugee Status or Humanitarian Protection (HP) by the Home Office, as a result of an asylum claim.

OR

Have come to the UK through schemes such as:

UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS)
Afghan citizens Resettlement Scheme
Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP)
Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (VPRS)
Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme (Homes for Ukraine)
Ukraine Family Scheme

Please note that you must have applied to the University before submitting an application for this scholarship.

Applications cannot be considered without the relevant documentation to support them: -

If you are subject to Home Office Temporary Admission/Immigration Bail Reporting, please provide your:
Application Registration Card (ARC) or Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) - Front AND Back
Immigration Bail Reporting Notice (this may also be referred to as a Temporary Admission Document or BAIL 201) - please include every page of this document.

If you are not subject to Home Office Temporary Admission/Immigration Bail Reporting, please provide your:
Application Registration Card (ARC) or Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) - Front AND Back
The most recent documentation you have received from the Home Office in conjunction with your application/appeal - this should show your Home Office reference number.

If you do not fall within either of these categories, you should email copies of your relevant documentation, e.g. your biometric residence permit, confirming your immigration status/the scheme you have entered the UK under, before the scholarship deadline.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by early July.
