Requirements
Additional Requirements
Applicants must not have been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute.
Applicants must be: a. New Zealand or Australian citizens or b. holders of New Zealand residence class visas or c. international students1 studying at secondary level in New Zealand.
Value/Benefits:
a. Financial assistance at a value of NZ $5,000 and
b. The opportunity to participate in a UC-sponsored programme for budding entrepreneurs and innovators through the UC Centre for Entrepreneurship
Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: The scholarship is tenable during full-time enrolment in a first year of any undergraduate degree programme at the University of Canterbury
Tenure: One year
Selection Process
In making the recommendations, the selection committee gives equal consideration to: a. quality of achievement at NCEA Level 2 or in equivalent university entrance qualifications (achievement must be at least NCEA Level 2 at Merit level or equivalent) and b. participation in innovation and entrepreneurship programmes, such as the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES), or experience in establishing or being part of a business or social enterprise venture and/or c. demonstration of a desire to have a positive impact on the applicant's local community or beyond.
If, in any year, there are fewer candidates of sufficient merit than there are scholarships available, fewer are awarded.
