Additional Requirements

The UH Bursary is a payment of £1,500 awarded to financially disadvantaged undergraduate students paying 'Home' fees. The award is available for the first year of undergraduate study only. To be eligible for the bursary you must: be studying a full-time University of Hertfordshire undergraduate course delivered directly by the University or one of its Consortium colleges live in an area with a low level of progression to university have a household income of £25,000 or less as assessed by Student Finance England or other relevant awarding body. This will be calculated from your Student Loans Company account, so please ensure you, and where applicable your parent(s) or sponsor, consent to share so that we can see this information and be considered a 'Home' fee paying student as assessed by the University. Please note you will not be eligible for the bursary if: you are studying a distance learning course/programme you are joining year two or three of a University of Hertfordshire undergraduate programme after transferring to us from another university you are studying an initial year or year zero programme prior to your full undergraduate degree. You will be eligible for the bursary (subject to the above conditions) once you have completed your initial year or year zero programme and have progressed to year one of your undergraduate degree.

Selection Process

This bursary is awarded to financially disadvantaged students who are starting their first undergraduate degree.

How to Apply

All students who meet the eligibility criteria will be awarded a bursary there is no separate application process. The University will be able to identify qualifying students from the postcode provided on their university application (UCAS or direct), and their student loan application. Students who are eligible to receive the bursary will be contacted approximately eight weeks after the start of term to confirm eligibility and be advised of the payment process. Please note, the eligibility requirements for this bursary are under review and may change for the academic year 2023/24.
