6 awards of £3,000 are available in 2023/24. The payments will be £2000 in the first year and £1000 in the second year. There is also up to an additional £1,500 of funding support for employability opportunities such as internships, placements or summer research programmes.
To be eligible for this award, you must:
Be resident in the United Kingdom
Have one of the following categories of ethnicity:
Black African
Black Caribbean
Black Other
Mixed - White and Black Caribbean
Mixed - White and Black African
Other mixed background (to include Black African, Black Caribbean or Black Other)
Have been made an offer (or be awaiting a decision) to start an engineering undergraduate programme at the University of Bristol in 2023/24
Be in full-time study - students undertaking part-time study are not eligible to apply
Have a demonstrable financial need
Be eligible for, have applied for and have accepted the financial support available from the UK Government (in the form of the tuition fee and living costs loans from the Student Loans Company).
Prospective students who select the University of Bristol as their insurance choice through the UCAS process will not be eligible for the award. Priority will be given to applicants:
from Aerospace Engineering courses
from a low-income household
from areas of low participation in higher education
who have attended an aspiring state school
who are under 25 and have previously been in care
who have a disability
who will be over 21 years old at the start of the course.
