Additional Requirements

The scholarship package includes full accommodation costs at a Victoria University of Wellington Hall of Residence in your first year, plus a stipend for three years. For students who are not in a Hall, the stipend can be taken uniformly across the three years or weighted higher over the first year.

  • Applicants must be New Zealand Citizens, Permanent Residents or an International Student who has completed at least two full years (ie. their Year 12 and Year 13) at a New Zealand Secondary School at the time of application.
    Applicants must meet all the criteria and regulations of either the Wellington Tangiwai, the Wellington Totoweka or the Wellington Raukaraka Scholarship to be eligible.
    Applicants must be intending to enrol full-time in the year following application in their first Undergraduate Degree at Victoria University of Wellington.

Selection Process

Applicants are automatically considered for a Kahotea Scholarship upon application for a Wellington Tangiwai, Totoweka and/or Raukaraka Scholarship.

Applicants will be considered based on their academic achievement as well as the areas of culture, community involvement, leadership, or equity, depending on the scholarship they applied for.

Recipients must meet all the criteria and regulations of either the Wellington Tangiwai, the Wellington Totoweka or the Wellington Raukaraka Scholarship.

How to Apply

A completed online application must be submitted by 4:30pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4:30pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.
