The name “Gold Coast” firstly used by the Brisbane journalists in the 1940s. This name was used to “market the region post war” as a large area was for sale.

The “South Coast” was named the “Gold Coast” as it was in the south of Brisbane. What led to the nickname of “Gold Coast” from 1950 were over-inflated prices for real estate and other goods and services.

Before European invasion and starting successive migrations there in the region, Aboriginal people were believed to have inhabited the region of Gold Coast about 23,000 years ago referring to Archaeological evidence.

The safest place to swim in Gold Coast is the southern end near the rocks. The Coast is a sheltered beach attracting swimmers of all experiences, and in the early morning people head to the southern end close to the rocks before the surf lifesavers go patrolling.
