Practicum
At the end of the program, a three-week practicum with a local employer gives you an opportunity to apply your skills in an office environment before you graduate. UFV's ABT program has a solid reputation for teaching office practices along with the latest software, so you're job ready.
Other opportunities
Applied Business Technology training prepares you to pursue a specialization as a legal administrative assistant, medical or dental office assistant, records management professional, and more.
ABT graduates can also use the skills gained from the program to complete a diploma or a bachelor's degree. At UFV, you can use the credits earned through your Applied Business Technology certificate towards earning diploma of General Studies or a Bachelor of Integrated Studies.
Delivery format for fall 2021
The ABT program will be delivered in an online/face-to-face mix using both synchronous and asynchronous formats. Students should expect to work on coursework the equivalent of Monday to Friday, 9 am2:30 pm; A two-hour mandatory online synchronous session will be held daily 10 amnoon, MondaysThursdays with a mandatory in-person session on Fridays (also 10 amnoon) at UFV's Clearbrook Centre in Abbotsford. One-hour optional online synchronous sessions will be held several afternoons a week (12 pm).
