In this intensive 10-month program, you learn to prepare drawings of residential and commercial buildings that are used for construction and for obtaining building permits. You will employ architectural design and drafting techniques, and apply construction practices and current building codes. Along with discussion of architectural practice and design, students will learn about designing for energy efficiency, safety against fire and earthquakes, and cost effectiveness. The program includes a civil/survey course that exposes students to surveying practices and civil design. Throughout the program students will employ a variety of digital design tools, such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and especially Revit.
Our knowledgeable instructors create an environment patterned after the working world: You get to solve real design problems and you are encouraged to develop your creative talents and techniques beyond the level demanded of a junior draftsperson.
