    The undergraduate portion of the curriculum emphasizes both theory and practical applications of computer engineering. The graduate program provides advanced study with detailed knowledge of hardware and software, including designing and using complex information processing systems for applications.

    Illinois Techs Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering/Master of Computer Science accelerated master's degree program allows students the opportunity to pursue advanced studies and complete both degrees in as few as five years.

    The undergraduate portion of the curriculum places an emphasis on both theory and practical applications of computer engineering. Students will be equipped with detailed knowledge of both hardware and software and be prepared to build and use complex information processing systems for a wide range of applications.

    The graduate portion of the curriculum for this degree provides advanced study in computer science. Students will be prepared for careers as working computer science professionals in business and industry.

    Specializations in business, software engineering, networking and telecommunications, and information systems are available.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Students applying to the Accelerated Masters Program must have completed at least 60 credit hours with at least one full semester (12 credit hours) of applicable undergraduate study at the university.

    Students must be at least one full-time semester (12 credit hours) away from undergraduate degree completion in order to apply.

    Applicants are required to have a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0; however, please consult individual departments for specific minimum GPA requirements.

    English Program Requirements

    International students who fit into any of the following categories will be considered to have met the requirement:

    • Residents of a country where English is the only official language and who is a native English speaker
    • Graduates of U.S. high schools
    • Completed the equivalent of Iowa State’s English 150 or 250 with a grade of B or better at an accredited U.S. 2 year or 4 year college or university.

    CONDITIONAL ADMISSION

    If you meet all admission requirements but do not meet our English proficiency requirements, Iowa State offers conditional admission to attend our Intensive English and Orientation Program (IEOP). If you would like to enroll in IEOP, on the application choose "I would like to enroll in Iowa State’s IEOP program before I begin the academic study.”
