Diploma of Digital Media

The Diploma of Digital Media will prepare you to work within the digital media industries by providing practical skills and relevant theory that can be applied in a variety of fields associated with design, technology and media.

Working within multimedia computer laboratories and production studios, you will learn how to create digital media works using industry-standard software development tools and techniques.

This course will equip you with the skills to think critically, solve problems, communicate effectively and work independently in response to digital media project demands.

On completion of this course you may choose to further your skills with the Associate Degree or Bachelor of Digital Media.

The diploma provides you with a solid foundation of digital media principles and provides a pathway into the associate degree and bachelor.

The associate degree and bachelor provide you with the flexibility to focus on your strengths and interests with a choice of minors available in animation, graphic design, interactive media, or screen production.

The bachelor advances your skills, knowledge and experience offering you opportunities to complete real-world projects.

The Diploma, Associate Degree and Bachelor of Digital Media provide you with study options that transition seamlessly.

Choose your study level
You have the option to start at any level or work your way up from the diploma through to the bachelor. If you commence your studies with the Diploma of Digital Media, upon completion, you will be able to transition into the second year of the Associate Degree or Bachelors.

If you start with the Associate Degree of Digital Media and would like to continue with further study, you will be able to transition into the third year of the Bachelor.

If you study the Bachelor, the Diploma and Associate Degree are embedded as exit and interim awards.

Throughout your studies, you will work within multimedia computer laboratories and production studios and learn how to create digital media works using industry-standard software tools and techniques.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America, you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University.

Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:

• A secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent); or
• An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) diploma level qualification, or
• Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years full time with a minimum overall GPA 4.0

completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland or United States of America.

If you do not satisfy any of the above, you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores:

• An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subset; or
• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - required 550 or better overall and minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 75 or better overall and no score less than 17 (Internet Based Test); or
• Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - required an overall score of 54 with no sub-score less than 46; or
• An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components.

English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study and must appear on a single result certificate.

Each student will be assessed individually.

If you don’t meet our English language entry requirements and need to improve your English language proficiency, you can do so through our approved English Language Instruction Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) providers. This means that you can attend the required English language tuition at approved ELICOS providers and gain direct entry into university without an IELTS or TOEFL test.
