Breaking down this degree

This course leads to two separate degrees. Depending on your specialisation, you’ll graduate with a Bachelor of Science and either the:

• Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary Education
• Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Secondary Education

Specialise in primary education and you’ll be able to teach across the school curriculum, with particular expertise in science-related areas. Specialise in secondary education and you’ll qualify as a specialist science or mathematics teacher.

What you’ll be learning

On top of your foundational science studies, you’ll have an extensive range of majors and minors to choose from. From physics to plant sciences, biochemistry to psychology, geographical science to mathematics, this is your opportunity to delve into an area you’re particularly interested in.

Combined with your education studies, you’ll learn how to be an innovative and effective teacher, with the capacity to bring out the scientific curiosity in young people.

• All primary and secondary education specialisations are accredited by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) using national accreditation standards.
• This means your qualification will be accepted in Victoria and all other Australian states and territories.
