    Developed by leading academics in the University of Liverpool’s AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS accredited Management School, the MSc Finance and Investment Management programme will equip you with the intellectual, learning, and professional skills you will need to make an outstanding contribution in your organisation.

    The content of this programme is aligned with the Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA©) qualification and will equip you with the skills and competencies you will need to undertake formal CFA© Level 1 examinations. This means that you will have not only developed excellence in academic skills from a world-class university but will also be competent in the practical skills that future employers in the profession demand.

    The University of Liverpool is an Affiliated University of the CFA Institute and, in recognition of the programme’s alignment to the CFA Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK), the online MSc Finance and Investment Management has been awarded affiliated status. The CFA Institute is dedicated to promoting the highest standards of ethics, education and professional excellence, and its affiliated status is greatly recognised and regarded around the world. Recognition demonstrates the robustness with which this programme has been developed and the application of the content to professional practice will strengthen your career potential.

    Upon completion of the programme, you will have a good understanding of contemporary principles of finance and investment management and how these are applied to financial intermediation, savings, and investment. You will also gain an understanding of the practices of financial markets including the use of ‘state-of-the-art’ industry analytics.

    You will be expected to work both individually and collaboratively with peers on the programme, which will facilitate an important goal of knowledge sharing based on each other’s experiences. International awareness will also be at the heart of the programme design, not only through the collaborative working opportunities, but also through the literature and assessments presented. Finally, you will develop your practical application and critical reflection, by questioning and challenging your own assumptions and those of others.

    Please note – CFA affiliated status only applies to the MSc award due to the number of study hours required of a programme by the CFA © to achieve this status. Students who enrol on a PG Certificate or PG Diploma and successfully complete their award will be eligible to progress towards the full MSc.

    Applications should possess:

    • A minimum of a 2:1 class degree in any subject, equivalent to a UK bachelor’s degree. Those with a 2:2 honours degree will be considered on an individual basis; or
    • Professional work experience in a related field and/or other prior qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

    All applicants must provide evidence that they have an English language ability equivalent to an IELTS (academic) score of 6.5.

    If you don’t have an IELTS or equivalent certificate, you can take our free online English test to assess your proficiency. You don’t need to prove your English ability if you are a national of or have completed a qualification equivalent to a UK degree in, any of these countries.
