Scotland is leading Europe in the design and application of emerging technologies ranging cloud, mobile and web services, gaming, Artificial Intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity, Blockchain, IoT, VR and AR.

If you are in software, dev ops, cloud-based or similar software engineering role, GCU's Graduate Apprenticeship BSc (Hons) Software Development for Business course could be a career-enhancing opportunity for you. This course is designed to equip software developers and engineers with agile project management skills and the knowledge, understanding and skills to become an effective, industry-focused, software development professional. You will bring real-world challenges into your assessments and tackle complex work problems through integrated work-based projects.

All Apprenticeships are fully-funded by the Scottish Funding Council. Applicants will also need to complete a SAAS Graduate Apprenticeship application form. The course team will review the skills, knowledge, academic qualifications and experience of all applicants, which will all be used to inform the level of the apprenticeship candidates will begin their education.

Become an effective, industry-focused software developer and enhance your technical, project management and business skills. Study industry-led software development practices including DevOps and agile-based methods to support your career.

The Graduate Apprenticeship has a typical duration of four years for first-year entrants. Programme duration may be less for candidates who can demonstrate work experience and prior learning through the University's Recognition of Prior Learning process.

You will attend an initial two-day induction followed by attendance one day per week thereafter.

Trimester A

12 days' attendance (mid-September to mid-December)

Trimester B

12 days' attendance (mid-January to mid-April)

Trimester C

Attendance for the work-based project (May to August). Exams in May.

Entry Requirements

Students who have sat a secondary school qualification in Saudi Arabia are not generally able to join an undergraduate programme at the University and would be required to undertake a foundation programme before joining one of our undergraduate programmes at GCU.
