Architecture at the University of Newcastle is different

Our program is grounded and future-focused, shaping students who care for Country, who are motivated by social and ecological issues, and who explore their potential as agents for change.

We are focused on creating inquisitive, agile, and skilled graduates. To reflect the diverse forms of practice architects are now engaged in, our program is designed to help you become the architect you want to be. You will participate in a range of projects, both guided and self-directed, with the option to pursue a year-long, final project of your own conception.

In our applied learning framework, you will spend most of your time—more than other NSW programs—in studio, with options for undertaking an array of briefs as well as exciting, special elective projects. Our program is studio-based; dedicated to projects that allow for engaged, integrated & applied forms of architectural practice.

We will help you become the architect you want to be. You will participate in a range of guided & self-directed projects.

There are opportunities to undertake two elective courses.

Note: Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the University of Newcastle’s English Language Proficiency requirements.

Applicants who do not speak English as a first language must demonstrate that they meet the University's English proficiency requirement. Further information regarding English language proficiency requirements can be found at the English Language Proficiency for Admission Policy.

In the application portal, you can enter the program you wish to study and upload relevant documents needed as part of your application. It is recommended you submit your application a minimum of 12 weeks before your intended semester of trimester start date.
