About

The Master's programme in Political Science is designed for students who have graduated with a Bachelor's or comparable degree and wish to pursue further academic studies in the field of political science in a research-oriented environment. The Institute of Political Science is a leading, world-renowned centre of political science research. The MA programme reflects the main research fields within the Institute of Political Science, most notably, comparative politics in general and research on democracies/autocracies; political systems of east Asia and south-east Asia; OECD countries and Germany in particular; public policy, particularly research on welfare states, climate policies, sustainability, European integration and governance, urban policy and international political economy; foreign policy analysis; research on interstate and intrastate conflicts; cybersecurity; and modern political theory. The programme allows students to determine their own areas of special interest within the range of courses on offer. Thus, each student can develop his or her own individual profile. Students are involved in the current scholarly debates and take an active part in ongoing research projects at the Institute of Political Science.

Entry Requirements

The Master's programme in Political Science is open to all graduates with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent (three years, 180 ECTS credits) with a political science component comprising at least 35 credit points and above-average results (overall grade, but also additional criteria such as subject or module grades).
