    Master of Science in Physics

    About

The goal of our Master of Science in Physics programme is to offer you a complete education in basic physics, ranging from theoretical physics, especially quantum mechanics, to solid-state physics and advanced practical lab experience as well as many other lectures of a classical physicist's education. These foundations allow us to offer an advanced two-year programme of lectures and research experience centred on your personal preferences of specialisation. Our goal is to familiarise you with the most up-to-date scientific knowledge available in our various fields of research. Of course, this will include intense tutoring when necessary and support of your own personal development towards more responsibility and independence. The visibility of your work will help you profit from acquiring presentation and writing skills. You can choose your own courses from a wide offer of specialised lectures that educate you on the most up-to-date science in the field. Please see "Course Details" for a further explanation of the philosophy of our programme.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

Applicants must have a BSc degree in physics or a closely related subject; three-year programmes should not contain considerable amounts of general education classes. Some important key lectures like quantum mechanics and solid-state physics (among others) are necessary. These requirements are usually met by scientifically oriented study programmes in physics. You must have good grades; on a linear scale, your average grades should be better than halfway between the best possible grade and the worst possible grade of passing a course. Our examination rules (Prüfungsordnung) still apply; this is just a brief summary of the most important rules according to our experience with applicants.
