    About

    The Department of Economics offers a course-based Master of Arts program, a course-based Master of Arts program with a specialization in Economics and Finance and a thesis-based PhD program.

    Areas of study in Economics include but are not limited to Applied Econometrics, Economic Development, Environmental and Resource Economics, Financial Economics, Industrial Organization, International Economics, Labor Economics, Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics, and Public Economics. The Department does not guarantee that each of these fields will be offered in any given year.

    Graduate program guidelines for each offered program are available from the Department.

    English Program Requirements

    Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT, in-person or special at-home edition) * : For tests taken before January 21, 2026: Total score of 90 with no section less than 21 For tests taken on or after January 21, 2026, only the 1-6 score scale* is considered:Overall score of at least 4.5, with no individual band score below 4.5 *Requirements shown are subject to final approval by the university governance.

    Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) : 6.5, with at least 6.0 on each test band

    Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) : 61 with a minimum band score of 60

    Duolingo English Test : 120 with no integrated subscore below 100 Some graduate programs in which proficiency in spoken English is especially important may have a higher than minimum English language proficiency requirement of 140 with no subscore below 120
