    Overview

    Londonderry is one of the six countries of Northern Ireland, and one of the nine countries of Ulster. The area of Londonderry stands at 2,118 km2 Hosting a population of 83650 people in 2020 – 2021 statistics.

    The ethnics in Londonderry are of five groups: White Non- Hispanic, White Hispanic, African American Non Hispanic and some other Hispanic groups.

    Londonderry is famous for its apple orchards and is home to the headquarters of Stony field Farm and part of Manchester – Boston Regional Airport.

    The original name of the city is Derry from the Irish “Doire Chlle”-meaning the “oak- grove” of “Colmkille”. It gained the name Londonderry from a company of swindlers that was established in London during 17th century, to get the native Irish off the area so that English and Scots can settle the region.

    Upon the charter of 1613, the city was established the county of Londonderry, which had the old county – “O’Neill lands” of “Loughinsholin”, and some parts of other counties. New towns were founded and resided with Scots and English planters.

    Culture

     The Culture of Londonderry

    “The Morrison House Historical Museum” and the “Children’s Metamorphosis Museum” are the two museums that can be found in the town.

    The city is famous for its walls dating back to 17th century having seven gates, within the walls, “spired ST. Columb’s Cathedral” displays artefacts from the 1688 – 9 Siege of Derry besides the Peace Bridge; in addition, the tower Museum has city scenes and historical sites.
