It constitutes one of the 33 local authority districts of London on administrative level, but the City of London is not a London precinct; the status of other 32 districts including the City of Westminster which is London’s other city.

The City of London is also a ceremonial county, separated, which is an enclave neighbouring Greater London. The Nickname of London was the “Big Smoke” referring to the condensed fogs and smog that used to penetrate the city long time ago in great deals.

The name London was derived from the name of King “Lud” who governed the City in the 12th century. Some say the name London came from the pre-Celtic name for the lower part of the Thames River, “Plownonida”.
