The central business district formed approximately the entire London extending from the districts of Romans settlement during the first century till districts of the Middle Ages; however, the new City of London has developed further more than the City of London neighborhoods.

The history of London dates back to Romans era; the Houses of Parliament emerge t its center, the two fabulous pieces of art: “Big Ben” clock tower and Westminster Abbey, site of British monarch coronations. The London Eye observation wheel, across the Thames River, gives forth clear wide views of the South Bank cultural complex, and the whole city.

The metropolis of London embraces the City of London in a small part; nevertheless, it maintains its status as a notable part of central London. It constitutes one of the 33 local authority districts of London on administrative level, but the City of London is not a London precinct; the status of other 32 districts including the City of Westminster which is London’s other city.

The City of London is also a ceremonial county, separated, which is an enclave neighbouring Greater London. The Nickname of London was the “Big Smoke” referring to the condensed fogs and smog that used to penetrate the city long time ago in great deals.

The name London was derived from the name of King “Lud” who governed the City in the 12th century. Some say the name London came from the pre-Celtic name for the lower part of the Thames River, “Plownonida”.
