Homestay

Stay with local English-speakers on a homestay for a cultural experience and use your English in a natural environment outside of the classroom. Some hosts have three-storey homes with several bedrooms, whilst others live in smaller apartments. All homestays are located in safe areas of the city. You may find New York is very fast paced and may notice that hosts work long hours. Rooms have a comfortable bed and blankets, sheets, bath towels and pillows. There are storage facilities with drawers and closets with adequate hanging space. You will have a desk or table for private study, a reading lamp, a mirror, and a waste paper basket. Additionally, you will have access to common areas such as the living room, kitchen, dining room, etc..

Some hosts may have restrictions on using the kitchen or bathroom. It is unusual to have a washing machine in apartments. Most homes have a common laundry room in the building or there will be a laundromat nearby.

Homestays in New York are located in four boroughs: Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. EC New York also has a few homestays in some parts of New Jersey.

All homestays include breakfast. Choose the half-board option if you want to have dinner with your hosts too. Breakfast varies from home to home. Some hosts may prepare a big breakfast with eggs, toast, bacon, fruit, coffee or tea, but most will offer something simple like toast or cereal and coffee. Other hosts prefer a "serve yourself" policy where you can help yourself to whatever you want. Some hosts will allow you to use the kitchen to cook your own food, but this varies from host to host. Twin rooms must be booked by two students travelling together.

Manhattan homestays are around a 25 to 45 minute commute to EC New York. Outside of Manhattan the commute is between 45 and 60 minutes.

Midtown East Student Residence

This fabulous apartment is perfect for students from the USA and around world. Located conveniently close to Grand Central Station, iconic building like Rockefeller Center, 3rd Avenue with all of its restaurants (including amazing pizza places) shopping options are not far off either! A 10-minute walk will take you into Midtown Manhattan where there's even more cafes' bars available on 2nd avenue. This location couldn't be better if we were talking about living in Manhattan itself!

Midtown East is a High End Residence Hall / Hotel Style building with lots of amenity spaces, including study areas, classrooms, gym, laundry, rooftop, and more! 

There are three types of rooms at Midtown East:

Deluxe: A single room furnished with a twin-size bed, closet, desk, and chair. The apartment includes a kitchette, a closet, and an ensuite bathroom.

Single: A single room furnished with a twin-size bed, closet, desk, and chair. The apartment includes a refrigerator and microwave, a closet, and an ensuite bathroom.

Twin: A double (two-person) shared room. The room is furnished with two twin-size beds, a closet, and two desks and chairs. The apartment includes a refrigerator and microwave, a closet, and an ensuite bathroom.
